Oil Pressure guage....

My oil pressure guage isnt working and am thinking it could be the sending unit, is there anyway to test this? And where is the oil pressure guage sending unit located?

Should be sticking up out of the back of the block next to the distributor(toward the driver's side). It's a bell shaped thing with one connector going to it.

As for testing it...no idea how you would go about that.

Ground out the wire that plugs into the sending unit, the gauge should peg out if working properly.

are you sure thats the one? Some one also told me that it is also near the oil filter. I am getting confused now, I have a 1988 IROC convertible with a 305 TPI if that helps

'88 should have the sender at the top of the block as Matty described. Visually, you'll know if it's there or not if you peek under the hood.

Should add that my 88' was a 350 TPI maybe the engine type is the difference?

Thats about normal for a cold engine. Drive it a little and see if it comes down.
