does this mean a bad ignition switch?

ok, ive had enough of this car just about. i had a problem with the fusable links right. fixed that now when i turn the key to start it, i get nothing. the temp guage spikes and the volt guage drops. i unplugged the p/n switch and the yellow wire never has any volts. the 2nd and 3rd wire from the bottom have power when the key is cranked/on (cant remember which). so i unplugged the two harness from the ignition switch. one wire in each switch has power. im thinking this is my problem. one other thing i noticed today as well. when i go to start the car, i get nothing. but under the hood i hear a real high pitched noise coming from somewhere. even after i shut the key off. the only way to kill the noise is to cut the power to the car. than i hear it shut off as well as some clicking near the ECM. the weird thing about this was, even with one fried fusable link i could still get the car to turn over, but shi.tty. now it wont turn over at all. the S and M terminals on my new starter solonoid are actually B and R. but it shouldnt matter, i'd get power to the p/n swich first right? anyway, hope someone could shed some light. thanks guys

How charged is the battery?? If the car has been sitting for a while, check the voltage. You should get anywhere from 13.5 to 12 volts, anything less and you could have a problem starting it. Another thing to check is the connections, make sure all of them are conducting properly. Last of all, check for correct placement of the terminals on the starter. The top terminal is where the positive cable and ignition cables should be, sometimes it is labeled and other rimes it is not. The purple wire that comes off of the clutch or gear selector lock out switch should be placed on the "S" terminal, not the "R" terminal. The R terminal is for the old systems with points instead of HEI. Hope this helps,
