Parking Lamps go on when brake pedal is depressed

Whenever i brake, my parking lamps go on. I checked for crossed wires but didn't find any. Could a bad headlight switch be the cause of this? The dimmer part of the switch dosn't work, i have to have it rotated until just before it clicks for the guages to light up.

Also which wire gives the parking lamps power?

mine did this for a while, ended up being that the high element on one of my brake bulbs was bad, i would check all the bulbs.

no i mean the high element on one of you tail lights, hit the brakes, and have someone check to make sure all the lightsfunction correctly. check the maker lights, brake lights ,turn signles ect. front and rear.

I'd be willing to bet that someone changed at least one of your brake light bulbs recently, not the high mount third brake light but the main brake lights. check the bulbs and I'll bet you find that they put in a single element bulb where a dual element goes, if so the power feeds back into the parking lights through that socket whenever you step on the brakes.

Do all the sockets get dual element bulbs? I'm not sure but i think they all are 2057. I'll double check tomorrow. So the 3rd brake light dosn't have anything to do with the parking lights going on? Now i'm only missing one bulb, pep boys only had two more when I went to pick get them and they are the cheapest, $8+ tax oposed to $12 a napa?

The ony dual element bulbs are the ones that do both the park light and the brake light. What they are thinking above is that one of the dual element bulbs went bad and is connecting the park light and brake light circuits--and I agree. How to check? Pull the 2(I think it's just 2) dual element bulbs out and hit the brakes--my guess is that the park lights won't turn on.

Thanks guys i fixed it today. The dual element bulbs were there but were in the spot for the turn signals on both sides. I put them in the right spot and problem fixed. I love it when there's a simple solution like that.
