Powering it up...

What is the best way I can power up my gauge cluster while it is outside of my car without using a car battery? I have several things that I want to do that all require testing outside of my vehicle.

I have an old power supply that plugs into the wall that says its 12 volt DC. Could I splice the wires that come from the power supply and use it to power my gauge cluster without running the risk of blowing/burning anything up?

Yes you can use the power supply. No you won't blow anything up.
