At this point, I'm assuming it's a short, but unsure of where the short is.

Here's the deal. With the car turned off, you can turn the key to turn the fans on (they are hot wired to run as soon as the ignition turns on). They have been like this for two-three years without a problem. The fans will randomly turn off, then randomly turn back on. But while the fans turn off, the AC will not work and the power window motors will not work. Battery is brand new which I got for free just to test it. I can only assume it's some type of short, but if anyone had any other ideas, or even where to look, please let me know.

How are the fans hotwired? Are you still using the relays? That would help. First of all you don't have a short. You are losing 12 volts to SEVERAL independent circuits. 2 scenarios can cause this. At the starter there is a tie point for several voltage feeds to the cars chassis electrical system. You can check and make sure there are no loose or corroded wires. Second suspect a bad ignition switch. The fan relays get 12 volts directly from an ever present 12 volts through a fuse link, however the coil side of the relay is key controlled so the fans will NOT run with the key off. Power windows are key controlled. Based on your symptoms the ign sw is a good possibility or something feeding it. Either way you need a voltmeter which is a must have for a TG.

I believe they still use the relay, one is tied into the other.

The ignition switch will effect the car that way without turning off? I'll look into that.

I'll also check the starter, thanks.

Sounds like you hooked it through the power window circuit. On some GM cars, it's not a fuse, but a circuit breaker. The breaker will kick back in when it cools down. Make sure they are using a relay--it sounds like they are pulling all the current(not using a relay) from the power window circuit. Just some stuff to check.
