Complete Re-Wiring?
Well it is official... my car is dead. Me and my buddy put a new carburetor on it 2 days ago to see if it would run better. I also had a gas leak.. AND an oil leak. We found out the problem with the leaks tho. Anyways, we put the new carb on and we took it for a quick spin. I got about a half of a block away from my house and my car was struggling bad and started to shoot fire from my carb. So i pulled over really quick and turned it off. Next thing i know my dash starts smoking. I mean this is a nasty *** smell, lol. So we quickly took it back to my house and my friend said he would be right back. So i sat in my car while the dash is smoking a little bit for about an hour till my other friend comes over. I finally went inside cuz i didnt know what else to do. Then me and my buddy went to McDonalds to get a few McRibs, lol and when we came back i had a tow truck in the front of my house and my other friend was there and said there was a fire in my dash somewhere. Well we got the fire out and put the car back in my driveway, i cant even roll up my windows cuz i dont want to start another fire, lol. So now my buddy told me that i should get the whole dash completely re-wired or just get a new car. I dont know what to do! how hard is it to re-wire the dash? Is it really worth it? ive already killed one engine, it was a 305 and then i paid 600 bucks for a 350 to be put in so ive already wasted so much money on this car and i dont want to waste more. i didnt know where else to post this.. but the question remains.. is it worth it?
oh and yesterday i lost my keys so im really F'ed now! *** im so mad!!!!!

that is a question that is best answered by you, how much time do you have on your hands? I just pulled the entire harness from behind the dash on my bracket car and I'll tell ya, theres one hell of a lot of wires under there, I now know why they charged so much for these cars, they have about 10,000.00 worth of wire in them (LOL). anyways, most of the harness just plugs in to various fitting or recepticales, if yoiu could find a car like yours with the whole harness you could label and disconnect everything and use it to replace yours. its more time consumming than hard. it would be much easier to pull the whole dash out, replace the harness and then re-install the dash.
once I had the dash out it only took about an hour to completely remove the harness, and that was with marking everything.
