bird factory FOG lights ???.help

i have a 91 bird....factory foglights didn't work when i bought it....i finally got around to messing with them...found out one of the little tiny bulbs in the switch was bad....i pulled one of the bulbs from a junkyard switch (the junk yard switch appears to stick or something, so i just used the bulb).

anyways...now, when i switch the switch (with parking or headlights on) i can hear like a "click" behind teh dash near the headlight switch. i assume this is good...is it maybe the relay or something??

BUT, still, no fog lights! i just pulled the bulbs, and made sure they were hooked up right. no dice.

what else could i check??

ALSO...anyone with bird and factory fog switch...
when you switch them on, does the switch stay cocked/switched?? mine returns to normal position, and the green light doesnt stay lit...is this right?

Fog light relay is usually in the engine compartment mounted to the right of the brake booster on the inner fender kind of all by itself. The red/wht feed wire on the relay gets 12 volts from a fuse link, the purple is switched 12 to the bulbs. Since the relay does click the switching circuitry is OK. Either the 12 volt feed to the relay is bad, the relay contacts are bad or the bulb grounds are off.

And the driving lights will not operate if the HIGH beams are on (or the circuit detects the high beams are on).

yes, the switch stays in the "ON" position with the green light on. that might be your problem. by the time you get out to see if the lights are on, the switch has gone back off..

use a voltmeter to check for 12v at the bulb contacts, and if it's not there trace backwards.... (or maybe skip to the relay second, then troubleshoot wires last)

my 91 firebird fog light relay was under the drivers side dash because i had to install one when i put in factory foglights.

my formula was prewired from the factory for foglights but didnt have the relay, foglight assemblies, fuse, or switch but had all connections.

as long as the green light stays light things are working right with the switch at least.
