Need help tracking an electrical problem

I just took my car up to have the mechanic that installed a new engine take it for a spin to help me detect an engine miss I was having. When he got back he plugged the scanner into the lighter and didn't get any power he continued on and did his magic. On the way home I had no radio. I replaced the fuse that was blow, however it blew again and now I have no power door locks, power hatch, headlights, interior or dash lights. Anyone have any thoughts? All the fuses check out and naturally I am fearing the worst. Any help would be appreciated.

Check for a shorted lighter socket. Foriegn objects are a leading cause.

Yeap, also in car cell phone chargers have a habit of shorting out cig. lighters too, then bam! Nothing works anymore, or when you either turn on the radio, or honk your horn. Pooff! Blown fuse again.

Thanks for the insight. I feel that you are probably right. After the mechanic plugged his scope into the cigarette lighter these problems started happening. I will start there and hopefully find the problem. Thanks for the hint.

Well I checked out that lighter socket last night. Once again none of the fuses are blown. I continued to disconnect the lighter socket from its harness, but still nothing. I took a look at the wiring schematic and I think it is showing power coming from an orange wire and a white wire. All the items that I indicated are not working are shown in this wiring diagram. I suppose the only way to track something like this down is to get a volt meter and start tracing voltage drops - unless someone has a unique idea for tracking these problems??
