berlinetta gets no power... sometimes

my 84 berlinetta has a problem where it will start sometimes and run normally, but sometimes the dash will flicker and go out and all the electrical things in the car won't get power. something stupid like a solenoid under the passenger side dash clicks when i actuallyget some power, but the car wont start.

I bought 2 new circuit breakers and pulled every fuse in the fuse box and nothing helps. The car just chooses when to die or start on its own. the cat got clogged around the same time this started happening. I got a whole new exhast pipe and cat, but this strange electrical problem is still here. I might replace my ECM but i dont want to if its not going to do any good. my car also backfired a few times when the problems started and it dieseled today but i think thats because all the fuses werent in. I read some posts and i saw that it could be fusible links, but why would it start sometimes and act like the battery is dead at other times..

looks like nobody could help... but my uncles friend had seen the problem a few times before. all it was was the solenoid, car runs fine now =)

What happened - did the Positive wire come loose from the starter soleniod Or was the starter soleniod just a bad unit ??????

how it was explained to me, since chevy puts the solenoid right by the exhaust pipe, the heat killed it and the whole thing was just going bad, i got a new on for $10 and it works perfect again
