Need help wiring up the Rear Hatch Switch
Im about to buy a switch for my 86 trans am, but have a few questions.
1. First of all, in my car, there is already a spot on my dash to install the button. And it's being blocked off with this spacer thing. So do I have to take it out and just install the button and thats it? I dont know if I already have the wiring for it or not.
2. How do I wire it up from my switch all the way back to the hatch?
3. Will this one in the pic work on my car? If I buy this one, I will have to cut out my dash wont I? Or can I just buy the button?

The 'plug' in the dash opening just unscrews and the switch pictured screws in place.
Just having the switch will not release your hatch. You will also need a relay and a solenoid for the rear.
If you're lucky, the car is prewired and then never recieved the option. Most likely you'll need to invest in some wire and a few connectors though.
Running the wire would be just like running wiring for a car stereo amp. Hide it under the trim/carpet down the side. there's usually a wire channel on the drivers side to hold wiring already.
