Annoying distrbutor problem
well, i just put in a new engine(originally 305 tbi) in, evertrything is done except the distributor. i bought a proform coil in cap hei distributor( http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=PRO%2D66941R ), but i can't connect the wires. on the dist. there is a female connector with 2 prongs. when i bought it i thought i could just cut the wires and splice them in, but there are none coming off it. please tell me what to do, i need my car back.
first off we need to know more about your "new" engine set-up, are you reusing the TBI or did you change to a non computer set-up? if your still using the computer set-up then that dist. will not work with it. you will need to get one that is built for the computer controls.
on a computer dist. there are two sets of wires comming from the bas of the dist. one set hooks to the wiring harness that goes to the computer, the other set hooks to the dist. cap. then there are a couple of single wire connectors that go to the cap, one is for the "+" power feed to the dist. and the other (if you have a tach.) is for that.

awesome, thanks. i just took off the top of the dist. and i realized that the wires going to the coil are the same as the prongs in the female connector. ill just splice it in. if you dont know what i mean, dont worry about it. thanks
