Ticking noise from headlights?

Once and a while I hear this ticking noise from my headlights. Is it the relay or is it the motor itself. I turn it off and on and it goes away. 91 gta.

I'll bet the lights aren't poping up properly are they? You need to replace the worn out bearings in the headlight motors. This will fix the problem before it gets worst.

The headlights work fine. When they go up there is no noise. But once in a while when they go all the way down they keep ticking untill I raise and lower a couple of times. Besides this they work great.

Could this be the headlight control modual? I let it turn off and it started clicking and then I un-hooked one of the motors and then pluged it in and the noise went away??? Any Ideas 91 gta.:lala:

You need to replace the gears in the motors. Each motor has 3 plastic ball bearings and over the years they have crumbled. It costs about $2.00 and takes about 1hr to do the job.

Mine click nine times. That's the sound of the clutch mechanism skipping, keeping your gears intact.

Well if it wasn't the crumbled bearings in the motors I don't know what it is. But somehow I still suspect its the bearings in the motors...

Well I took out 6 perfect nylon bearings and replaced them with the 6 that came with the kit. I put the grease in as per inst.. and it still does the same thing once in a while. I could send you a pic of the origonal ones I pulled out, they are in perfect shape with no ware.
