I just got a dome light that has the 2 map lights. I wanted to put it in my 83 since it is just the plain dome light. I noticed my dome light only has 2 wires connected to it while the new dome light has 3. Can I use the new one and my car? And to use it what would I have to do? Thanks.

I gave my friend my old dome light when i got my overhead console. In his car he hooked up the 2 original wires to the light, like the old one was, but the 3rd wire on my old dome light with map lights was a ground wire. Hooked that up and everything works the way it did in my car. Hope this helps,

 

First of all thank you for replying :hail: I didnt think I was gonna get any help. Sorry if this may seem like a dumb question but where do you hook the ground wire to?

Any screw near the light that goes into metal (body).
