rearview mirror with lights

I got a rear view mirror out of a late 80's cutlass ciera, its got 2 map lights on it. I grabbed about 2 feet of the wiring harness with it, there is a white, and orange, and a black. Obviously the black is ground but what do i do with the orange and white wires? Thanks

Tony

If its the same mirror I have, I faintly remember when hooking mine up, one wire powers the 2 lights that go on with the switch on the bottom of the mirror, then the other powers this little light on the bottom that I have no idea what it is good for. Just hook the ground up to a battery and one at a time the other ones and see what happens.

there are two wires at the domelight in thirdgens.

orange = constant +12V
white = ground path when door ajar

for your new mirror, you may also wish to add a new constant ground so that you can use the map lights when the doors are closed.
