this is pertaining to a cd player, but the actual repair deals more with electronics, so here it is...

my cd player (panasonic dpx60) stopped working about a year ago. i only now decided to find out why.

i can verify that the deck itself is getting power, as it has an led light that blinks when the face is detached (fake security feature)

only the face isn't getting power. obviously the deck is out of warranty, i've had it for 4 years now.

so at the risk of breaking something, i took the face apart, and looked the back of the face over for any loose connections. i found two, which look to be possible grounding points for the actual display. what's the likelihood of being able to solder it back in place?

Cracked joints especially around pc board mounted connectors are very common in consumer electronic equipment. In fact it's very common in auto electronic modules as well. A low wattage soldering pencil and 60/40 electronic solder and if the joints are in fact bad all you should do is simply reflow the joint and add a tiny amount of new solder being careful not to bridge any connections.

here is a picture showing what i'm referring to. i've circled the two broken connections in orange. i can still see solder on the lower connector, that was my clue that the solder was the culprit.

sorry it isn't clearer, i'll try and get a better picture if someone needs it.
