I need the wiring diagram that shows the location of the fusible links for the fuel pump and the ECM if anyone can help.

as far i know, both are powered by a fuse in a holder near the batt

 

I NEED A WIRING DIAGRAM FOR 5.7L 1989 IROC Z REBUILT CAR GROUND UP HAD TO PUT MOTOR IN IT I HAVE A GREEN WIRE AND A PURPLE WIRE FROM THE LOOM THEY ARE SOLID NO STRIPE ON THEM CANNOT FIGURE WHERE THEY GO CANNOT FIND A WIRING DIAGRAM FOR THIS I HAVE FOUND BASIC WIRE DIAGRAM DOSENT HELP CANNOT FIND A PPL OR GRN WIRE ON THEM I NEED A MORE DETAILED DRAWING CAN ANYONE HELP THANKS

Hopefully the OP has figured it out after 6 years, but for future searches the ECM/Fuel pump relay fuse is in a small case behind the pass headlight

 

I dont know how different your wiring is from my 86 IROC but here is a page that has the 86 wiring. It's loaded with color coded wires too. Good luck.

 

In my 86 IROC, the fuse is by the battery and its mounted to the fender. The fuse (in my car) controls the Fuel Pump Relay, MAF Burn Off Relay, and the MAF Power Relay. ECM fuse, I dont know buddy maby in the fuse block?

 

ya the little black cylinder is the fuse? a positive wire goes from the alternator in my car to the + battery, and i have 2 wires left on the other side of the cylinder poking out. fuel pump isnt clicking on, and didnt happen til i took my battery out.

I rigged up a light to check fuse marked ...STOP HAZ...LIGHT DID NOT LIGHT UP BUT IT DOES ON OTHER FUSES.....WHEN I LOOKED BEHIND FUSE THERE IS ONLY ONE WIRE TO FUSE OTHERS HAVE 2....IM STILL LEARNING SO PLEASE BARE WITH ME!! Electrical not my strong suit...but Im trying!! Just dont give up on me!!...my goal is to be my own mechanic with a car that has working brake lights..Lol

 

1989 Camaro. Battery good, starter good. Dash lights turn on, but engine won't crank. Not even a clicking sound

 

I had that issue once, for me turned out to be a malfunctioning VATS system. If that turns out to be your issue, the instructions for bypassing it are searchable on this board

 

Check the purple wire leading to the starter solenoid. You'll need a helper with this because this wire should get 12 volts - ONLY when the key is turned to START.

If the purple wire isn't getting 12 volts when the key is in START than you'll need to trace the wiring back into the passenger compartment. Could be a bad wire, could be a bad neutral safety switch ( or clutch switch if manual ) or it could be the ignition box @ the base of the steering column.

If they purple wire IS getting 12 volts when the key is turned to RUN,.... then the solenoid / starter might be bad or not properly grounded to the block.

9 times out of 10 this is a vats issue

check resistance value of your key and backprobe a resistor into the vats connector running down the steering column

its an easy and cheap test
