couple of Q's...

3 quick things been bothering me, wondering if any of you guys have insight on em,

1) Only after taking my rear carpet out, do i now notice my fuel pump is making some noise...I know that when it whines it's the first sign of trouble..but are these things suppose to be DEAD silent? I only noticed it with the interior completely gutted, it sounds like it does when it primes, cept a little less loud and constant. Should i go run and buy a fuel pressure gauge to test it and prepare for trouble, or is a bit of noise normal?

2) the relay in the hatch for the pull down motor i noticed is getting pretty hot, warm to the touch, just from being plugged in. Bad relay? I dont know what it's doing to be warm even when the switch isnt being pushed, those wires should effectively be dead until used no?

3) Anyone know how much AMPS the dual elec. fans draw? I got a fusable link that keeps melting....I guess i might be overlooking a short but i dont -think- i am, wondering if my cheapo links arent rated high enough. Fans seem to work fine while they work but the connector (RIGHT next to the battery) keeps melting on me...

Man wiring on cars is not fun to work with....

The fuel pump will make some noise especialy when the carpet is out of the car. With the carpet out of the car, the fuel pump will make more noise because of no damping material in the car. Most fuel pumps will make alot more noise when they age. The older they are, the more noise most of them make. Although chevy fuel pumps make alot of noise. Chances are you are hearing your fuel pump operate, and with the carpet out of the car. It is easier to hear.

about the relay for the hatch. It could be that the relay is begining to fail. Your would think that when the hatch is closed that the hatch is off(no power). Not real sure. But a place to start. I would take it apart and clean the contacts inside, if it is easy, sometimes that takes care of it.

About the fans, they souldn't take alot of amps, see if the fan has a label on it about the amps. If not call a local parts store and see what their fans consume.

Hope it helps. Good luck.
