Starting prblem

I installed a new headlight switch, after that the car decided not to start anymore. Now I get nothing, not even a click from the starter. The temp guage pegs out when i turn the key to the start posistion. I've checked to make sure no wires got unplugged under the dash during the install, checked battery voltage (12.45v). To me it seems like something is grounding out the circuit. I'm stuck Pulling my hair out.

Any clues on where to or what to look at or check woud be greatly appreciated. TIA

well i would start by looking at the fuse block and make sure u didnt blow any fuses during the install.

that would be my guess right off hand.

Id pull the headlight switch back out and try starting the car and see if that does the trick.

Take your meter and measure voltage at the fat wire at the starter. It should read 12+. If it doesn't, trace the wire back. If it does, put the meter on the small guage purple wire and have someone turn the key. When the key is turned, it should read 12+. If it doesn't, trace the wire back to the key cyl. If it does read 12+, it is just a coincidence that it went bad when you did the switch. Your starter is bad

It could also be a bad ground for the starter solonoid, but it's much less likely.

Good luck,
Matt
