305 TBI to 350 MPFI swap, wiring harness question
Hey what's up guys. Ok, here's the deal. I have a 88 Firebird Formula with a 5-speed that came stock with a 305 TBI and an open differential with drum brakes. I recently purchased an 86 iroc with a 350 MPFI and a posi rear with disc brakes, which I plan on swapping into my firebird. However, I was wondering if you guys knew if I could just swap the computer from the Camaro into my bird without running all new wires to my power doors and dome light and basically everything behind the firewall. I was hoping that I could just swap computers and run the wiring harness off of the camaro through the engine. Is this clear, and is this possible? If not, what can I do to make this simpler, or even possible at all? Much help would be very much appreciated.

Won't be a problem at all. The ECM with it's harness has nothing whatsoever to do with the interior wiring, or any other wiring under the hood for that matter (that's not computer related)...
Other than the ECM's relay's and sensors, the only other connections it has is with the starter, the battery, and an engine ground.
The headlights, the fog lights, and everything else is seperate....
I just converted from TPI to Carb yesterday, and have the complete CC harness out of the car. If you need any help, as far as what goes where.... and if you could re-use wire, just lemme know (I'm re-using the original Relay for the Fuel Pump... as although it's 'linked' to the CC, the actual wires bypass the ECM, just in case you change yur mind, and go the Carb route).
