high beam question....

the high beams in my sc do not come on for some reason, yet the indicator comes on when i hit the switch.

thinking the headlights might be bad, i replaced them with the cool blues from my z28 that i'm putting in storage.... and it still does not turn the high beams on..

before i dig out my factory service manual, i wanted to ask here, is there anything in particular i should know about how the high beams work?

car in question is an 84 camaro.

Check for voltage at the plug of one of the inboard high-only bulbs. The dash light coming on means the switch is functioning properly. Unless there have relays added in for the headlight circuit, you may have a broken feed wire.

that's what threw me off, the indicator still coming on. i'll check the plugs. i guess i really need a multimeter. i should expect to see 12 volts at that particular plug, correct?

yes, 12v.

Sometimes those connectors are a PITA - make sure you've cleaned the contacts pretty well and used a good dielectric grease.
