It describes how to make a V6 tach work on a V8 engine.

I gave a pretty good description of where the capacitor is on the tach on this thread. https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=114057

Look at my second post on that thread, the first one I was a little off in the position of the capacitor.

now that was suppost to fix the cap that changes it from V6 to V8....

my questions are:
  • what is the part that wears out over time? is it that cap?
  • is my 91 tach the same circuit as the older tachs?
  • if it is a cap or resistor that wears out, can i replace it with a variable one, then use a scanner program to "tune" it to work better?

i really like the looks of my stock tach, and im not adding a aftermarket one to my car.... it would be nice if it was more accurate though..

I think the capacitor might be the problem. My TV repair guy agrees for what that's worth. I have ordered one after I install it I will let you know. Cross your fingers. If it doesn't work I'll be out $.57 and we will all be a little wiser.

My tach is totally off. In my GTA that has the digital dash As soon as it reaches 3000 rpms it just jumps up to 6000. Have any ideas for that??
