Look out, cops in CT are driving LS1's
I was coming home a couple nights ago on the infamous Berlin Turnpike in Berlin, CT and saw this:
A Honda Civic pulled over to the side of the road and the flashing lights on the car behind it. When passing the cop's car, I couldn't believe it, it was an Unmarked 2002 Blue SS Camaro!!!
Any other cities around here deploying f-bodies in their traffic patrols?
Good luck outrunning that in your Civic!!
...and I thought the Meriden Police D.A.R.E. Corvette was a rare sight...

It is pretty common to see the famous LS1 Interseptor Cop Car on the road at night. I live in Jersey and haven't seen any in my state but I do a lot of driving. I have seen several in New York but they were all marked. Just do not try and out run them. Not only are they LS1's in there they have them suped up a little bit. It is a slighty modified package with parts that can stand up to the abouse cop cars get. Plus a 100 shot of NOS in most of them. I was at a show in NY and seen a couple fo the Interseptor cars and 3 out of the 4 were running 100 shots. Bad cars. Just sucks they are unmarking them now.

Well here in Detroit I've seen a few unmarked Camaro SS. They were in broad daylight though. Actually seen them in both. By day they're usually white. At night they're all black. None of them are marked. Usually they're trying to get someone to race them. Funny seeing them take the bait just to be pulled over immediately after they lose

I've yet to see any unmarked cars here in my area.
State Patrol supposedly isn't allowed to have "plain wrappers"
I do believe Pennsylvania does.
Now I have seen local police departments use an unmarked car, but still has the spotlights and a removable siren/light combo that mounts on the dash. They still kinda stick out like a sore thumb, due to the spotlights, and plain clothes hanging on the back coat hook.
About a block from where I work, there is an elderly couple who has a Crown Victoria. (Ohio uses Crown Vic's for the State Patrol)
This particular car is steel gray, the same color as the patrol cars.
Now, this car is also equipped with a cb antenna on the back, makign it look like an unmarked patrol car. Talk about getting the snot scared out of you.....

Here in Rhode Island....I've seen a couple Camaro pursuit cars down in South County...They're state police vehicles...however...surprise surprise...I have also seen an undercover Honda Civic cruiser....scary...but I have a list of undercover cop cars that I catch around the state...good idea to know who they are...

Yeah, in RI there's also a brand new dark green Dodge Intrepid unmarked car. This one is completely unmarked, with no spot light, and no CB antenna. It uses strobes in the front lights to pull people over with.
The Intrepid's home is that cop-shop on RT. 6, on the way to Providence from Hartford, CT.
Keep an eye out.

This post got me all paranoid. The other day I had a blue SS behind me, and normally I will try to get that kind of car to play. But knowing that theres LS1 cop cars, a few things set me off. One, he came from where he couldve been from the police station, and two, i swear he was pacing me from 100 feet back. He also had those cop type glasses on you always see in the movies. Anyways, I'd like to thank you guys for making me a little more paranoid
Anywyas, the big thing around here is expeditions. Ive seen quite a few of them, and saw one watching for speeders the other day. Impalas are starting to become cop cars around here too.
Honda Civic cop car? That would be the one stoplight I decided to waste my gas at to shut one up.

LOL, no problem on the paranoia.
I'm wondering if the local police will give me a hassle about the exhaust on my car. See my post in the appearance board to see what I'm talking about.

What kind of license plate did the camaro SS have on it. Was it a regular plate or a police plate. I have seen two undercover cop cars with regular plates in detroit, but they where both crown vics and still fairly easy to ID. I was just curious.

Police Plate I think. It was dark, but i think it was the city code(Don't know Berlin, CT's code, here in Meriden it's ME so i assume berlin is BE) and then a number. It wasn't the standard CT 6 character plate though.

I've seen a black 98-02 SS in MA pulling someone over. RI has their brand new dodge intrepid that I see almost everyday driving to school usually pulling someone over. MA has a dodge dakota quad cab. I've seen a Fox Body mustang with a 5" tach and loud exhaust pull someone over on the way to NE dragway before. My friend said he saw someone get pulled over by an all black IROC up near the dragway not too long ago. The cops have plenty of tools to catch us..that's for sure.
