Looking for a wire to splice into

I got a temp and oil psi gage, and there is room for lights obviously. I need a spot to tap into a power wire, the lights are 12V and I would like them to have constant 12V so I can turn them on whenever I like.

Where is the best spot to tap into a power supply?

honestly, I usually tap into the dash light fuse, since it will dim the guages the same as the dash, but, since you want to have a seperate switch, just tap into any of the extra holes in the fuse box that does not say ign., everything but the ign. ones should have constant 12v, check with a test light to make sure

If your looking for something perminant, I'd go straight to the ignition harness. It's going to come off the side of the steering column, and go up towards the steering wheel, then turn towards the kick and head towards the firewall. It'll be a fat harness with a bunch of 12 and 14 guage wires in it. If you want 12+ constant, even with the car off, tap into the fat red wire. If you want 12 volts constant only with the car on, tap into the fat pink wire.

Make sure you fuse the wire though, if your wire shorts out it will either blow the fusable link by the starter, or start a fire. With something that small of amperage, the latter is the more likely one.
