digital dash problems!

digital dash problems!

Well, that time of year again. Put the ol' bird away for storage, picked up a winter vehicle for cheap. Well, it's an 88 grand prix with a digital dash. Problem is, the tach doesn't work and the speedometer only reads zero. (when i start it up, it has that initial reading of like 188...then goes to zero.) I checked all the connections under the hood and it all seems to be ok. Anyone have any clue on this subject? HELP! i have a bad habit of speeding when i know how fast i'm going.... don't wanna get a whole lotta tickets here.

this thread might get locked cuz it ain't 3rd gen related... i got a digital dash on my gta which need abit of work but i havnt ripped it all apart yet. rip it off n check connections n broken wires n all that jazz. if not... mosey on down to the junk yard see if u can rip out another dig. dash.. can't be too too expensive

thanks man, i'm doing just that, going to the junkyard. If this post does get locked, then it's BS Thirdgens have digital dashes too. A berlinetta or GTA could be having the same problem as my GP.

If the car was a Berlinetta than I would tell you that the problem was inside the cluster,......... & that you needed to get a replacement.

got a junkyard cluster... this one is f'd up too.... but the speedo and tach work. Gas gauge is a little whackey and the temp light comes on and off. but, for a winter car it's good enough, i know how fast i'm going.
