vats question

my ignition lock cylinder is worn out and not making a good connection at the vats chip on the key causing intermittent nonstarting probs. after the first try, and the vehicle does not crank, is there a certain amount of time you have to wait before trying again? ive noticed that every time this occurs, if a wait about a 1/2 hour the car will start. which is why im wondering if the vats stays enabled for a certain period of time after being enabled the first time. thanx in advance

You're right.

Though I don't remember the exact amount of time, it's only 2 to 3 minutes.

I had the fun of tracking things down to bypass mine!(try this...wait 3 minutes, try this one....wait 3 minutes....you get the picture! )

If you have a failure, give it a few minutes and try again. No need to wait 30.
