Code "Q's" and Dashlight prob...one old and one new
OK...'89 Firebird, 305 TBI. Still having problems with idle after warm-up. Its' showing codes 13, 32, 34 and 44. I've checked my Haynes manual, so I know what they mean....but how could they be connected?
Keep in mind, I have a new MAP sensor and O2 sensor. I also replaced the fuel filter about 6 months ago....but a bit of history on the fuel is in order.
Seems the fuel cap was left off of the car for a rather extensive period of time before I got it. Could water in the tank be a factor?
Now...to the dash lights. They were working just fine until I installed a radio. I couldn't get a 12V "memory feed" from the standard harness, so I removed the console top plate and tapped into the console light for feed.
Now the dash lights don't work. Yes...I checked the fuses in the fuse access panel. They are all fine.
Is there a fuse somewhere else I don't know about? If not, anyone got an idea as to where to start looking?
Thanks,
NM

lights - put the wiring back the way you found it. get your memory feed power from the big red wires on your steering column. make sure you have a 5 amp fuse inline between your radio and the red wire.
as for your codes pull the ground cable from your battery for about 30 seconds to clear them, drive for about a week and check codes again. I would assume since you changed the O2 sensor that the code 13 would be gone. the other codes, and the idle problem are probably related. I'm guessing that its your egr valve. yank it off and clean it out with carb cleaner. Then clear codes again and see what happens.
good luck
