Help me please Keep blowing fuse for the gauges and dash light

Hello I need some Help!! I have a 1989 IROC with a TPI 305
I keep blowing the fuse for the gauges and the dash lights.
I replaced the light switch already. That didn't fix it. Could it be the ignition switch? The car starts and runs OK but no Gauges. it seems to blow the fuse as soon as i turn the key to the postion were the lights would come on. Circuit board looked fine. no Obvious shorts.. Please help. I searched the boards and have not found anything helpful; yet.

Thank you kris

That could be anything.......To get you started----Look for any pinched wires under the hood. I once had a demon in my system and found out that my horn wire had a bare spot and was touching the fender.

Just to start you off

when this fuse blows do you have tail lights? If i remember right you shouldn't. I would check the wiring back there as rocks n stuff could hit the wire that goes to your license plate light and it could be shorting out.

just a thought

Thanks for your input. I found out what it was. The switch for the cruise control at the brake pedal was all messed up and was shorting out the system. thanks guys
