charging system prob

i just purchased this camaro from an auction 83 camaro 2.5L 4 cyl
TBI and was wondering if anyone can think of a reason that someone would put a toggle switch in the charging circuit? it looks like the person that had it before me cut the wires at the alternator, ran them down under the dash and put a switch on them. really weird! so iwas wondering if anyone could think of why?

must be a nice toggle switch to be able to hold that kind of power without a in-line fuse or something to restrict the power.. most toggles cant hold much power or they melt.

I would think of two things, a sound system with a amp or a electronic fan of some sort....

re:

i dont thin there is anything special about the switch. and there is a regular non-electric fan on it. as far as stereo system i dont see any evidence of there being one. i was just wondering why he would put it in the charging circuit. i guess im just gonna have to rewire the whole car thanks any way
