B&M Megashifter wiring...

My 84 Z28 won't start... out of the blue... replaced starter even though I'm sure it was fine.. checked a lot of stuff from other posts like this, and I'm convinced it has got to be the neutral safety switch.. I got the car with the Megashifter in it alreadly.. The wires going to the shifter are 2 small red ones and 2 bigger black ones.. is half of the switch for backup lights and half NSS? If so, which wires need to be connected to bypass the switch?
Also, is there still another safety switch anywhere..?.. BTW, one of the metal switch arms, one of the two that touch the shifter, is loose.. just flops back and forth... Well, I'd apprieciate any help I can get.. need to get mobile again.

Connect the two large wires, should be purple and Yellow, to check your switch use a multimeter to do a continuity check on the terminals while moving the metal finger by hand. I always had a problem with the wires coming off of the switch.

yeah, I'll try that tommorrow.... but like I said, I have 2 small red wires and 2 large black wires.. A local guy who has several third gens and is pretty knowledgable looked at my wiring and he didn't know what to make of it... the previous owner did an engine swap and there are a lot of chopped up wires... NOTHING IS AS IT SHOULD BE!!! and it's making things way harder than they need to be.. I'm sure I'll have a bunch more questions, so thanks in advance..

replaced the starter.....!!!???....you need a multimeter!, you could have ruled that out before you even picked up a wrench.

ask your mechanic when the Snap-on guy comes, for $100 you can buy a 12v +/- voltage checker pistol grip style, plugs into the cig lighter, it's great for mechanics and easy to use. It shows a red LED for 'power' and a green LED for 'ground' , hint: there is no such thing as a 12v wire, 12v exists between the ground side and the positive side, I don't care what any of these half monkey electrical system mechanics will tell you. A good multimeter is only $20 and can do much more than check for positve or negative voltages if you care to learn it's funtions.
