odd problem - lights and tach
hello all. i'm new here, and recently acquired an '84 Z28. when i drove the car home, i noticed that the tach wasn't working, so i thought, no big deal. well, it was raining that day, so i had the lights on. well, a few days later, i go and start the car again, and the tach works. so i'm thinking wtf. anyhow, to make a long story short, i drive the car around, it works. then i turn the headlights on, and the tach goes back to 0, and the oil pressure guage goes to 0 too. so i ask around, and none of the parts stores have ever heard of the problem. any ideas? also, when i start it up, the tach registers around 1500 or so, but i put an engine analyzer on there, it idles around 850. is there a set switch that i could reset to get the tach to recognize the correct rpm's? if i were to replace the complete cluster, would that take care of my problems? any help is greatly appreciated. thanks
