volts drop when brakes are pressed

Like the title says, I will be driving along and when I press the brakes the volts drop dramatically. I have put an alternator in, but will be putting in another one. I was just wondering if you guys have any ideas on what may be causing this. Also do you guys have a diagram of the charging system. My manual does not have one.

Hey on my GTA when i did that the volts would drop down and the car would sputter. NOt only that but they would bounce and they seemed to be set off by the brakes. I ignored it and wnet on replacing other things, i went thru everything. Problem actually was corrosion in the connectors for the brake lights , removed the buld and scraped out the corroded metal and bingo no problems. hope fully that helps, im rebuling a GTA, mine was mint until a semi T boned it, *** bless the GTA!!!! hehe
