Hatch wont close

The motor seems to be stuck in the up position. At first I thought the motor may have gone out but while I was playing with it this morning it shut the hatch 2 or 3 times. When it started shutting the hatch I just simply bolted it back on completely then it stopped again. Anyone have any idea on what the problem may be? Also I checked the fuse and it was fine so im stumped....

It sounds as if the striker-sensing switch is bad. Bad news is that the switch was discontinued by GM last year. You can try spraying the switch with contact cleaner to try to get it working. Otherwise get another used hatch pull-down unit for the striker-sensing switch.
