92 Camaro hatch pull down problem
since i got the car the hatch motor never worked, so i decided to take it apart and see what the problem was. I found out it was a bad gear nut, so i replaced it. Now i have a new problem, i cant get the pull down to work right. When the reversing switch is in in the up position the motor will move the assembly up when the hatch is closed. When i put the reversing swicth down the assembly will automaticaly move all the way down, whether the hatch is closed or not. I cant figur out how to pisition it so that it will work properly. Another question, i have the manual key release, no soleniod, but i have the button for the release on the center console which seems to do nothing. Is this how it is supposed to be on the 91-92 pull downs, or is not hooked up right.

have you tried sticking your finger down in there... there is a little button that will release the hatch motor and bring it back to the top... hope that helps

I dont know about this button, are you sure its on the 91.5-92 model pull-downs? Ive taken it apart several times, i could have missed it though.

mine is a 91, and in the hatch pull down where the hatch latches at there is a small "trigger" when mine stuck to the bottom i pushed the trigger in and the hatch pull down came back up to the top....
