car alarms

Not neccasarily 3rdgen specific here, but I cant think of a better place to find some info
Im wondering if anyone has used this alarm, or maybe even heard of it before.. Im looking into getting a pager alarm, and all those extra features would be nice too, but dont want to spend a whole lot of cash.. Google is usually my friend but it was of no help finding any useful info on this Mannix alarm, heres the link.

I got one off of ebay and installed it myself. It was a bit of a pain to install and I had extra wires left over (go figure) but it does work just as good as any other alarm Ive seen. I would recommend letting a pro install it tho.

woo, hearing it works is a relief because i already paid for one
yeah i figure it will be a real pain in the butt, but i already had to mess with all the wiring trying to uninstall the leftovers from an old alarm system that was once in the car, so i figured i might as well give it a shot

That was one of the hardest places Ive ever had to work... *shivers*
finding the right wires was easy, beings how the old wires that were hooked up all pointed me in the right direction, but getting 2 hands in there was damn near impossible at times... oh well, its mostly a hack job though i taped everything up so it looks pretty decent, i need to solder some of the wires still
couldnt find a particularly good place to put the alarm unit itself, so its kinda zip tied up behind the fuse box, its not going anywhere but would take all of 2 seconds to find and rip out had someone actually been trying to disable it

cant figure out where to best put the shock sensor either, i cant seem to set it off unless i literally poke at the thing, its at the highest settings and ive mounted it in various places.. the lights go on alot but the thing never actually sets off the alarm unless i really wham on something.. im guessing it thinks its smart, when really its not and needs to be setting off the alarm (either that or im dumb, its 50/50 on this one) where did you mount yours?

You can put the brain for the alarm in the center consol behind the shifter. Not many people do this so if a scumbag theif does get in your car he looks under the drivers side dash where 99% of alarm brains are installed.

Best place for my shock sensor was zip tied to the steering col. Under the dash. OR if that still doesnt work too good you can tie it inside your shifter. Although this spot seems to make the sensor VERY sensitive.
