All electrics died
When i first put my battery in, all the electrics seemed to work fine (with the exception of the dash lights for some reason) but now after playing around with the engine trying to get it to start up, i noticed almost none of them work now. no dome light, headlights, dummy lights on dash, nothing. the only thing that seems to be working right is the temp gauge that goes up a lil bit when the key is turned on. i also noticed that a (pretty weak sounding) buzzer is heard whenever a door is open, driver or passenger, even with the key out. WTF happened?!?! i measured for voltage after the fusible links off the starter, and they all seem fine (voltage running through). If anyone can help it would be appreciated. thanks in advance

When my ignition switch went bad it made the buzzing sound whenever the doors were open. That's just a small part of your problems now, I think I paid 20-$25 for it and it came with 2 new keys.

Is this the same car that you were changing the ignition lock cylinder in? Did you put the key warning buzzer switch and retaining clip back in right? How strong is your battery now?

Yeah i just put a new lock cylinder in about a month ago. I didn't mess with the warning buzzer or anything, just took the old one out and slid the new one in. it was working fine before, now all of a sudden it's screwed up. The battery's brand new. The buzzing sound is real weak sounding, not like the sound when the key is in and the door's open. and i only hear the sound sometimes, not all the time. WTF happened?!?!

Items #4 & 5 are the two that I was talking about. They go in the steering column right below the lock cylinder and had to be removed to remove the lock cylinder.

yeah i just slid the lock cylinder out with no problems and slid the new one right back in. never removed the buzzer. im pretty sure that the actual ignition switch is the problem. today when i went to put it in start, the engine turned over fine, but when i let go and even took the key out the engine was still turning over.
great now i have to pull all that shtuff out again!!!! How much do one of those do-hickeys cost about??
And the problems begin........

I don't know how much they go for new, you might find one in an auto parts store. But your best bet would be to go to a junkyard and get one. All cars have them and the GM cars pretty much use the same one in all models.
