Trunk Motor and Gauge Cluster question.
Ill start with the trunk motor. Ive pretty much replaced everything on it, The guides, New plastic houseing and new plastic gear nut. I even got a new hook for the top of the hatch. The motor runs up and down nicely now, but the hatch wont latch, ive moved the assembly around and it just seems a tad too far back, any suggestions?!
Gauge cluster, I just replaced the printed circuit on the back, and my middle 3 gauges still dont work. Ive replaced the temperature sending unit, and replacing the fuel sender tomorrow. Any suggestions as to where to look for problems?

On the rear hatch problem, you say the motor goes up and down nicely. Doesn't it grab the latch hook on the hatch and pull it down and lock. Shooting in the dark on this question, but do you have the lock cable connection connected to the hatch lock cylinder shaft? Also, what part seems just a tad too far back and when you replaced that latch hook, did you check it for proper installation.

Ok, it seems like the entire assembly is to far inward, its like the latch is hitting the edge of the motor instead of latching onto it. As far as the latch goes, it only goes in one way, cant turn it upside down or sideways or anything, the bolt pattern wont match up. Ive moved the assembly around, up, down, left, right, it just wont seem to catch. Just thinking maybe im missing something or doing something wrong. And everything is hooked up correctly.

You forgot to mention (or complain) that your rear spoiler center section isn't lining up with the side spoiler trip pieces. If that is the case, your hatch is too far rearward. This can be adjusted. Do a search on this site for the adjustment method.

I didnt even think about checking the hatch alignment, and sure thing, it was off a bit. So I grabbed a friend this morning and we moved it up a bit. Its still not "right" on target, and I think thats due to another problem that im not really sure what to do about. The passenger side strut? rod that holds the trunk up. The bracket its mounted too has sheared off from the body and is making it unstable. But I was able to get the trunk shut to where it engaged the motor and closed all the way. Im going to look into the strut problem as soon as I finish stripping/painting/polishing my rims. WOW is all I can say, im quite pleased with the one ive done, and shouldnt take me too long tomorrow to finish the rest. Hopefully Ill have time to try and find my bright light short and figure my gauge problem out too.
But Thanks for the help guys! Always a huge help around here.
