Wipers don't work on this '82 V6 base model

Wipers on this car do not work. The previous owner tried putting another wiper motor in it and they still don't work. Looks like they tried getting at the switch, too. Neither the wipers nor the washer pump work (the washer pump is the old mechanical-style one), at all. Sound like a relay problem? Where's the relay for the wipers located on an '82???

I hate to be Mr. Obvious, but did you check the fuse?

As for the relays you mention, I'm not aware of any. Wired directly from the switch to the wiper. I would check the switch, and wiring.

Diagram for an '85, yours should be similar:

No relay, huh? Well, I guess I'd better start tracing the wires between the switch and the motor then....must be a break somewhere. That would be just my luck. Thanks for the info

From: out of my mind; be back in 5 minutes....
Car: 1989 Firebird Formula
Engine: Internal Combustion
Transmission: Completed
Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
The 82 and 83 wipers are wired almost completely different than the 84-92. Power is fed into the motor first, then grounded out through the switch on the stalk. The later ones have power running to the switch first, then to the motor.
No relays; check the fuse panel for a fuse or circuit breaker.
