what can short out a coil?

This coil has only been in the car for a few months and now there's something wrong. I ran the three tests as described in the picture below and it's failed test three. It's supposed to read infinite ohms and I'm not getting any reading whatsoever. This coil was putting out bright blue very bright sparks up until yesterday. What could have shorted this thing out?

Cheap/defective coil. When you said you get no reading on ohms..are you getting ) ohms or is the meter giving some other indication?

According to some people I've talked to this afternoon, a zero reading on the ohm meter means infinite resistance. I guess I'm okay.
Now I have to find out what's causing it not to fire.

An ohm meter that reads 0 does NOT mean infinite resistance, 0 means just that 0, nada, nothing, zip, zilch. In short, there is NO resistance. If the meter was reading with some funky symbols in the display, flashing display or the ever popular double backwards E, that would be considered "infinite" resistance. So, your coil is shorted out, kaput.

Well that makes more sense.
What could short it out? I found a broken wire from the grey coil connector that goes to the distributor. It was the white wire to be exact. Could that have maybe caused it to overwork itself and fry itself?

Probably made it overheat and burn out.
