Electric Air Conditioner from 2004 Toyota Prius

The new 2004 Toyota Prius (gas/electric hybrid) uses an all-electric air conditioning system. Anyone have any details on the system? It'd be great to get a few of those AC components out of the engine bay!

I live in Houston, TX. It may be nice right now, but give it a few weeks, it'll be in the 90's for sure, and I'm sure we'll see our share of 100+ days during the summer. Gotta have da AC

I dont think having an electric compressor would clean up your engine bay all that much. Youd have to put the compresser somewhere. The motor in the prius might also run off of the high voltage system.

Yea, I thought about the higher voltage electrical system, it probably isnt 12v. Being able to mount the compressor somewhere other than on top of the engine would be awesome. Maybe relocate the battery to the hatch, and stick the AC compressor in its place. Anyone have any specs on the compressor?

Hate to say it, but you might want to check a toyota forum. That thing is too new for it be scraped for parts yet.
