Hatch pull down - working but not

Alright, here is an odd one. I have checked all fuses LID and ACC and both are fine. The hatch release works fine.

I have no 12volt supply to the red/white wire that supplys the relay for the hatch pull down motor. I should since all the fuses are fine and that wire goes directly to the relay from the fuse box.

The motor works just fine if I rob the rear deck light's 12 volt supply .

Any ideas why I am not getting 12 volts to the relay?

Hello Smiley23,

Something does seem a little :werd: here. The relay for the hatch is located in the center console and gets its power from the Accessory (ACC) fuse. The cargo light wiring comes off the hatch release relay through a splice and should come on only when the hatch is open. Have you measured the red/white wires for voltage, if you have and there is no voltage you have either a blown LID fuse or a broken wire somewhere. Check this schematic.

Thanks Trickster, you are very helpful once again. I will have to try to track down a broken wire or connection and hope that is what it is. I am not getting any voltage what-so-ever at that wire.

BTW, do you know if there are any connectors between the rear of the car and the fuse box. I would assume there must be one in the kick panels?

But of course my dear fellow, Check these out. Pay particular attention to the connector in the right hand picture marked C206. It is an 8 cavity connector containing the red/white wires from the LID fuse.

Trickster, I finally got off my butt tonight to tackle this problem.

Sure enough - I had a corroded wire at the harness connection (DS rear seat)(C206).

Thanks - I appreciate your help!!!

The relay for the hatch release solenoid is located under the center console adjacent to the parking brake on Camaros. It is located behind the dash on Firebirds. Which makes sense in that both cases it is near the hatch release switch.
