i picked up a 85 z-28 a little while back from a guy who just needed it gone for the price to tow it to my house. it ihas a 305 in it but it isnt running, and is partially took apart. i just now have time to fool with getting this thing running so i can have something to drive to school next year.the car didnt actually belong to the guy that i got it from, and he had no idea of why the car wasnt running. i was thinking that maybe the car over heated because he has some of the bolts out of the water pump, and all of the rad hoses off. he has a bunch of other stuff off, but it looks like he didnt really know what he was doing.

now for my actual question...do the stock guages in the 85 z stay in the location when you turn the car off? because the temp guage is sitting between 220 and the next mark. or maybe the needle just kind of centers itself? if the needle stays on the last reading, chances are the car was over heated.
