Seemingly Odd Blower Motor Problem

In town or at low speeds everything works as it should. At highway speeds, however, what seems to be wind noise becomes apparent and can actually be decreased or increased by turning the fan switch up or down. Any help?

Windows closed when it happens?
Could be a worn or split door or hatch seal letting the wind whistle ( escape) the car.

Windows are closed. The rubber/weather stripping was all replaced a couple of years ago and has never been a problem.
