What was the first year they put a PASS-Key chip in the key?

Transmission: 700R4

I might be wrong on this, I know they started putting the pass-key in the 3rd gens on some high-end cars in 1988 and I believe it became standard in 1989. Course, I could be wrong. My 89 has it.
