Powersteering Switch

Iīm converting my injection from 89TBI to 90TPI (rewired harness from a 89TPI). Now iīm missing a connector in the harness (that is already mounted in the car), itīs the connector for the powersteering switch. I just found out that the 89tpi harness doesnīt use the PS-switch but that 89TBI and 90TPI does.

I guess that the switch closes (and connects the wire to earth) when there is pressure in the steering system, but why???

Can i ignore the wire or connect it to earth permanently.
It would be nice if i didnīt have to open up the harness again..

Could you please help me...

Thanks

Jonas

my 91TBI has that too..

im just guessing at it, but it seems to raise the idle SLIGHTLY when i turn the steering wheel... that way the idle can be set lower and the car still wont stall if you're at idle and you turn the wheel...

id leave the connector there as is, and if it stalls out, id try to ground it. i dont know if either will give a SES though..

If the 89 harness doesnt have a provision for the ps switch it wont set a code. Hopefully the ecm is programed so that the car wont stall out with the increased load of the ps pump. If the car stalls out when you turn the wheel near full lock either direction youll have to do something to either raise the idle or include the ps switch into the harness.
