Operating Power Locks Independently
Ok, I got a new alarm to replace my old one. It says I can hook it up to unlock the doors independently, push unlock button once to open drivers door, twice for both doors. Now do I have to unwire the relay that controls the locks, cause the wires seem to be running in parallel to both lock motors. If worse comes to worse i'll just leave it the way the old alarm is connected to unlock both doors at the same time. The alarm is a code alarm csi-200 if that makes any difference, old one is a code alarm from the early 90s.

Anybody??? Im probably gonna install it tomorrow. Stupid alarm thats in there now will let me disarm the car, but if I wanna arm or disarm again, after it arms, I have to wait 5-10 minutes before I can give it another command. and yes batteries in remotes are brand new. Ive tried to arm with one remote and disarm with the other, so I know its not the remotes.

If I'm not mistaken, the lock switches are wirerd in parallel which control a single relay 'assembly' (basically 2 relays put together on a metal holder plate and wired together to operate the locks). The relays alternate the power or ground (similar in fashion to the window switch) to forward or reverse the lock solenoid (solonoid ?.. I never can get that right) action.
Anyways... you would need to seperate the switches (by rewiring) and then add a 2nd relay assy (again, more wiring) to independantly operate the locks.
Personally, I don't see the effort being worth the ends to operate the locks seperate from each other.
Of course, that's just my opinion and.. it doesn't matter too much

Nope, I Agree with your opinion.
It does sound like way too much wiring for something that I dont really need. Right now the current alarm opens both locks at the same time and has done this since I got the car. So leaving it that way wont matter too much anyway. I just hope it wont be too much of a P.I.T.A. to switch the brain out.
