horn no work. horn relay? HELP cant saftey without a horn!
im almost done fixing everything and the horn is the last on the list
my car has the dual horn option. i found a car in the wrecker with the same option and i swapped horns in. no go. my horm makes a weak "thonk" noise
got another wrecker horn tried it. still no horn sound just the thonk.
is there a horn relay?
what else can i do?

If necessary you can use a quick fix.
A friend of mine had a 67 firebird and the horn didn't work.
He wired a push button from inside to the horn. He taped the button to the center console.
This mickey mouse fix let the car pass inspection in Missouri.
I don't recommend this as a long term solution.

Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
Try the horns directly off a battery first to make sure they are good.
The relay is in the 'convenience center' which is located under the dash above the drivers' right leg. When you press the horn button, you should hear it click. It sounds like it (the relay) is working fine because you say the horns are making a slight thonk.

Definatly could be related. In the future its helpful if you post problems that may be related together.
One thing that both switchs have in common is the clockspring in the steering column. They may also get power from the same place. Im sure someone else will be able to chime in with more specifics on which wires to check.

got the horn working. i took them off to clean up the contacts on the horn and the contacts of the wires that they plug into, and one of the horns was full of water. so i replaced it with one of the junkyard ones i had. after a bit of honking it sounds right now.
i pulled off the vacume hoses that go to the cruise control and blew in them to check for leaks. the hoses look new and were still stretchy and with the car running and me spraying the hoses the car didnt stumble so i think they are good.
ill take them all off and check to see if they are clogged on the weekend
