need help before it rains, please!!!
hey guys,
I'm having a problem with my power windows on my drivers side, my car has that automatic wondow where you push it once and it goes down by its self. well here is the problem, when its down and I go to put it up it will go up just a few inches and stop, then if I wait 5 min. it will do it again after like an hour the window will be closed at this rate, it doesn't grind or anything, its almost like its on batteries and they go dead. I don't know if its the motor, or maybe the switch? there is something electrically bad here, and apparently its a common problem in early 90's gm cars with power windows cause my mothers olds does it to. I live in florida and it rains daily so having to leave my window down is killing me, so help please.
thanks

I think it could be the motor but Im not positive. Do a search on power windows and you will get the answer. Many others have had the same problem. I just cant remember the answer lol
Also check out the connections.
Also check out the connections. Rock the switch back and forth where it gets stuck. Don't press all the way on the "down" switch; you just want it to go down a little bit, then back up, until it goes all the way up.
This problem usually turns out to be the switch itself. You can still get them through GM.

I been there before I was lucky all I had to do was clean the contacts on the switch with a contact cleaner

My friend had this problem on his 96 Sunfire. I wound up having to replace the motor. Take the door panel off and check if the window motor connector is getting 12 volts when the switch is pressed. Easy way to rule out wiring/switch.
