voltage pulsating??

voltage pulsating??

hey guys, this problem just started in my car. Before I never had any electrical problems with it. Just a little weak sometimes when I have my defrost and my lights on at the same time. Then all of a sudden I was driving home one night and my choke light came on. The car ran fine so I didn't think anything of it. But it wouldn't go off ever again. And the voltage was really high. And it wouldn't regulate very well. so I got a new alternator since mine was getting old anyways, and all those problems went away for like two weeks. But now, when its cold and I start it, the voltage goes up pretty high, but it like pulses. And the choke light blinks on and off with the voltage pulses. But when I turn my lights on, it stops and acts normal. It's not the big of a problem, but I would like it fixed. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Some one else had posted with a problem similar to yours and they mentioned replacing the choke heater relay in the convenience center. When you replaced the alternator, did you have the battery tested or replaced. I had an alternator go out on me about a year ago (fell apart internally) and spiked the battery. The battery at times was reading 19 - 20 volts and had no amperage. Just a thought!!!
