yellow and green wires.
have a 1989 gta with the L98.
car died on me last summer coming off the highway. I just punched it passed some cars. (hot day too)
Next thing that happened is the car stalled out. Stereo was still pumping and lights where on etc.
tried to crank her over and everything turned but did not fire.
took it home later on and had a friend boost it. It started and ran for 10 seconds and then sputtered a bit and died and I have not been able to get it started since. There is some distance involved to where my car is so I need to get a good answer.
so far I've had to put in a new battery because the ACdelco bloated up. also put in a new coil and ignition module because it seemed to be a good idea at the time. also new wells cap and rotor because the ends where black and rusty.
but the car didn't fire after all that.
a while later I noticed the wires that go from the distributor to the module are completely toasted yellow and green). They are barely together. I think they where cracked and some water got on them and they blew to sheit.
not really a car tech or mechanic yet so I need some help.
What are they for exactly? And I have a feeling that's my problem.
new distributor?
and if so from who?
thanks Generel Motors!
sorry for the long story. thanks for any help.

If the terminals and the wires look to be in good shape, you can do like I did two days ago. A friend had the connector fall apart on his 4 cylinder grand am. I got another pick up coil, removed the wires from the connector and put it on his old coil. worked great and didn't have to pull the distributor. If you can do this it will save you time and a lot of headaches. If not the distributor will probably have to come out depending on the type you have.
