Speedo only working 30% of time

My speedo only works some of the time as my thread subjecct states. It's not a huge deal but my Z28 is mint (65k) never winter driven and I would like everything to work. The speedo works for a while then stops then goes on intermittenly. Reminds me of a bad wire connection. Anyone had or seen this?

Do you know if it's cable-driven or is it all electrical?

Since it is a 1991 Z28 I assume it is all electronic. When the speedo doesn't work, the odometer also doesn't count up.

Yup, the odometer is driven by the speedo. If the speedometer doesn't work, the odometer won't either, naturally. Keeps the miles off your car though... Crack open the dash and see if any of the cables are either loose or corroded.
